Fried Cabbage with Crumbled Bacon

Ingredients

  • 68 strips of bacon
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 23 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 24 cracks of fresh pepper

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven, cook bacon strips on low until evenly crispy. Set aside on paper towel.
  2. Add onion and garlic to the same pan, cooking on low for about 10 minutes.
  3. Now add shredded cabbage, salt and pepper. Turn heat up to medium-low and stir.
  4. Deglaze with 1/3 cup of water, scraping the bottom of the pan to get any brown (and tasty) bits, then simmer with the pot covered for about 20 minutes.
  5. Add bacon crumbles to the cabbage or leave them aside and let each person sprinkle on top.
