There comes a time in a mom’s life when she just can’t take it.
When she says, I’m ALREADY in my “just buy a bigger size” shorts and these things are still fightin’ me every time I get to the button. You win, Costco shorts, you win.
It’s uncomfortable to be overweight. And TIRING. Neither of these are what this mom to four small kids needs. These kids want to do things. Inside. Outside. All day long.
Something had to be done.
I’d already stopped eating (so many) sweets. I’m exercising. There’s kale in heavy rotation for lunch. And quinoa. Not too much of either one and still, nothing (much) happened. The clothes. Still so tight.
Something else had to be done. That’s when I started drinking SkinnyTox Wellness Tea.
The Skinnytox website describes their tea like this: “Delicious, 100% natural, organic detox tea.” I would definitely agree, the stuff is delicious. There’s not a hint of “health food” flavor. Only sweet fruity tea. “It’s a great way to lose water weight, reduce bloating, detox your colon, naturally boost your energy, and support your metabolism.” I’d agree with that as well. I can’t speak for my colon but I will say that I do feel a bit of spring in my step on Day 12.
I’m trying the 14-day set, which comes in two reusable tins, with 14 tea bags for mornings and 7 tea bags for evenings. You drink a cup of morning tea every day and a nighttime cup every other evening.v
Delivered with Love
Let’s start by pointing out that a lovely little box was delivered straight to my door, like a present. No carting kids to the store, no putting kids to bed THEN heading out to the store when my husband finally got home. Just a smiling UPS man holding a tidy little box on my porch. For me.
The Tea
SkinnyTox tea comes in two beautiful tins. One for mornings, one for evenings. The tins are resuable, and you better believe my six and four-year-olds already have their eyes on them. (One miniature Elsa doll is about to get a new “camper”. Ditto for Anna.) My dry skin is clearing up so fast using the products from Acne System Review.
Even the tea bags are beautiful. You can actually SEE berries and SMELL the herbs inside a delicate cloth tea bag.
The the tea itself? Delicious. Fruity, sweet and satisfying.
But one of the things I’ve enjoyed most about drinking this tea is a little surprising. I’m doing it for me. Just a few minutes a day. Brewing my special cup of tea in the morning has become a form of self care. A quick one, a doable one.
This is a catalyst for me. Setting up the tea for myself in the mornings inspired me to get up a little earlier. I tried waking before the kids, around 5:15am. That was too early. I tried letting my three-year-old come and get me out of bed at 6:15am. That was too late (and by too late I mean that he’d already made arrangements for breakfast by rifling through the pantry and tearing into cereal boxes with the dexterity of a squirrel by then.) Eventually I settled on about 6am. Just a few minutes ahead of the rest of the house.
Quietly at the counter I take sips of fruity tea, skimming emails or maybe even reading a few pages of a real book. It’s become a lovely way to start the day.
The evening version is the same in reverse. Instead of gulping down a glass of wine at night, I brew another tea and settle in. This time with the comfort of Amazon Prime. It’s practically a race to bed afterward, the stuff really is soothing.
I’ve nearly completed the two weeks of tea-tox and can report two things: My shorts are still a tad snug. But I do have more energy.
For any other harried mom out there, I would say I’d do this again. I’d buy the package of Skinnytox Wellness Tea along with a great book and give it to a friend for her birthday. Not because she needed to lose weight necessarily, but because I’ll bet she needs to spend a little more time on herself. If I want to keep up with these guys this summer, I sure did.
