Welcome to a new feature on Foodlets called “Tried It”.
These are recipes or bits of advice that I’ve heard and seen elsewhere put to the test with our own four kids. I’ll give you the scoop on the difficulty-to-worth-it ratio, plus whether the kids liked it and whether we’d do it again.
Tried It: Frozen Grapes
If you haven’t discovered frozen grapes as snacks for kids yet…go straight to your freezer and throw a bunch in. (Or go straight to the store. Whichever makes more sense with your grapes situation at home.)
The Technique
- Just pull the grapes off the vine.
- Pop them in a zip-top bag with enough space so the grapes can lay in a single layer.
- Throw the bag in the freezer, flattening it out so the grapes don’t stick to each other in a clump.
- Freeze for 2 hours, or more.
We took these on a hot trip to the zoo this summer and they were a dream. Cold, refreshing and guess what? The frozen version of fresh grapes makes them last a little longer. No hoovering, just a bit of savoring, which is something I’m trying to impart to the rascals these days. Enjoy your food.
With these frozen grapes, it’s hard not to.
