My kids eat more apples than anyone I’ve ever met. Full of fiber and vitamins, it’s a great habit. But when we want to get really fancy, we make apple nachos.
With peanut butter, caramel and fudge sauce drizzled over the top.
Apple nachos are the BEST dessert for a crowd of kids. No cooking needed, unless you’re making your own sauces and even those are a snap.
What you need to make apple nachos
- Fresh apple slices (I like a blend of Granny Smith plus a crispy red variety)
- Peanut butter
- Caramel*
- Hot fudge (our super simple sauce cannot be beat!)
*Want to make your own luscious caramel sauce? You only need one ingredient: Sweetened condensed milk. Place an UNOPENED can of sweetened condensed milk in the slow cooker (or add a few cans) and cover completely with water. Turn on LOW and allow to cook for 3 hours. Replace the water as needed, so your can(s) is always covered with water.
After 3 hours, open your can and pour out the golden goodness.

I like to serve one apple for each child, and you’ll only use a portion of any of the sauces, so adjust according to what you need.
*You can make your own caramel sauce but you’ll need to do it ahead of time!
Ingredients
- apple slices (do this at the last minute so your apples won’t turn brown, but even if you need 20-30 minutes, don’t worry because the slices will be covered quite a bit.)
- peanut butter
- caramel*
- hot fudge or chocolate sauce (I love this hot fudge sauce! Easy and incredible on anything.)
Instructions
- Warm the peanut butter, caramel and hot fudge sauces in microwave-safe bowls for about 20 seconds at a time, until slightly liquified.
- Slice apples and arrange on a tray or cutting board.
- Use a spoon to drizzle the sauces over the top of your apples and serve!
