WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT CHIA SEEDS? A lot! At least Dr. Oz says so. “The nutritional benefits of chia include fiber, omega fatty acids, calcium, antioxidants and much more – even protein!” I like that you don’t need many seeds to add a punch of nutrition to an already successful dish (why mess with a good thing, right?) Here are our family’s favorite ways to cook with chia seeds:
- Chia Seed Coconut “Pudding”. With a consistency like tapioca, with none of the stove-top time, this pudding has been a hit around here. This summer we’re trying a variation of this as popsicles. Recipe coming soon!
- No-Bake Chocolate, Fruit & Nut Balls. I love a recipe that you throw into the food processor, pulse and enjoy.
- Buttery Strawberry Oat Bars. Yes, they’re full of butter but it’s the real buy generic valtrex online no prescription stuff. Organic (if you can), creamy butter. Paired with sweet strawberry fruit spread, whole oats and a dusting of chia seeds? Excuse me, I need to go stuff myself with as many of these as I can before the kids get home!
- 2-Ingredient Banana Cookies (Neither is Sugar). One of my favorites to make with small kids, all you need are really ripe bananas, oats and the add-ins of your choice. We use chia seeds when we’re making these for the nut-free preschool classroom snack.
- Even Healthier Pumpkin Spice Muffins. Our original pumpkin spice muffins are so good that they remain our all-time most popular hit with kids everywhere. BUT this version is just as tasty, and packs even more of a punch. I think it’s the chia seeds that does it.

Hi Sherri! Hope one (or more!) of these work out for you. At the very least, I say just start sprinkling them on everything. We love chia seeds on oatmeal, even yogurt and certainly in any muffin. Throw ’em in and enjoy the Omega 3’s. 🙂
