Looking for a kid-friendly protein ball recipe without nuts? We’re hooked on these Strawberry Bliss Protein Balls without a single sprinkle of added sugar.
This recipe is very versatile so you can add only coconut, only banana chips or combine both. Our how-to pictures below show the banana version.
What you need to make Strawberry Bliss Protein Balls
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup whole old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
- 1 cup dried banana chips, separated
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1/2 cups shredded coconut (or 1 1/2 cups coconut if you want to coat your balls in coconut instead of banana chips)
How to make Strawberry Bliss Protein Balls (using Banana chips only)
Pulse 1/2 cup of banana chips until fine enough to roll your completed balls in as a coating. Tip: For a less sweet version, combine banana chips with 1/2 cup of crispy rice cereal.
Pour your coating into a shallow bowl, then use the food processor to grind the ingredients for the balls. Stop when the mixture starts to stick together.
Roll balls with your palms, then coat them in the banana powder.
That’s it! Now you have nut-free Strawberry Bliss Protein Balls without added sugar that can sit patiently in the fridge all week long, just waiting to be added to school lunches or packed for snacks.

I use sweetened shredded coconut, which amounts to the only sweetener used and the result is still not overly sweet. If you choose unsweetened coconut, the flavor will be quite different.

- Total Time: 15 mins

- Form mixture into balls, rolling them between your palms.
- Roll each ball in the chopped coconut and arrange in an air-tight container. Cool in the fridge for at least an hour or overnight. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
p.s. If you’re into no-bake balls with nuts, stop everything and try our kids two favorites: Peanut Butter Oat Balls and Chocolate, Fruit & Nut Balls. SO GOOD.
