MY KIDS DON’T USUALLY DRINK JUICE. It’s just too sugary. If we’re going to have a lot of sugar, I’d prefer a big ol’ cake. Or better yet, some ice cream. Just go for it, I say.
But the one exception is lemonade. Sometimes my husband makes a batch of fresh lemonade with the rascals. Sometimes we just buy it at the store.
But boy does that stuff go down fast.
In order to enjoy a sweet treat like this a little longer, and get even more refreshed (not to mention throwing in a cheeky serving of fruit), I like to add strawberries and freeze the whole thing for popsicles.
It’s just a 2-ingredient technique, this strawberry lemonade popsicle set-up. Chop strawberries, add to lemonade. Freeze.
Another easy way to move away from juice is just adding fruit to water. We’ve done it with strawberries like this cheerful little pitcher of fruit-infused water here.
But mint, orange slices or believe it or not, cucumber slices, are all equally festive looking and delicious tasting.
Once our kids got the idea down, that juice is really a dessert, they totally prefer something more special. And I do too.
